1. Feature Article: Investigate Many Pathways
Summertime! I like to think of it as a time of 'adventuring'.
And since The Imp and I would rather be adventuring than
writing,
this month's article is from The Imp Journal. The Imp
Journal
has weekly themes on which to focus. So here goes and we'd love
to hear about your adventuring!
Investigate Many Pathways
Take time this week to experience new things. Cultivate a spirit
of
adventure and curiosity. Open your mine to new ideas, new
choices.
Do you have preconceived notions about what is expected in
life?
Such notions limit your options. What are your ideas of what is
expected in life? How different is that from what you really
want?
Be open to the possibility of having what you really want!
What fixed routines can you change this week? Perhaps travel
a
different route to work or school. Listen to a different radio
station. What else can you do differently?
Be curious. Take time to notice the unusual. Be an observer.
Choose
ten minutes some time this week just to observe what is
happening
around you.
In your writing this week imagine there are three of you -
each
with a different lifestyle. Make them as exotic, outrageous or
adventurous as you like. A Pop Star? A Secret Agent? An
Underwater
Model living in the Caribbean? Describe an ideal day for each
lifestyle.
What one small action can you take this week to bring you a
step
closer to living such a fascinating life? How is it possible to
bring something of these 'other lives' into your life now?
Explore! Have fun doing it! Your exploration may evolve into
a whole
new direction for your life.

2.Coaching Q&A:
Nurturing Your SoulThis Q&A is reprinted from the April 2005 issue. Its original
title: Still don't know what I wanna be when I grow up!
Yup! The Imp and I are making sure there is time for play and
fun
this summer - to nurture the soul...
Sandy's Q: "At 56, I still don't know what I want to be when
I
grow up. I like my present job but it isn't nurturing my soul.
Any suggestions?"
Answer: Congratulations, Sandy, on hearing your soul
whispering
to you to make changes in your life. Sounds like you are ready.
I recently had an email from a younger individual who
identified
a passion, commenting, "It's something that when I have the time
and inspiration I will pursue. As for a more soul-satisfying
career, I'm mainly concerned about paying the bills and my job
does more than that. It's just monotonous."
My first question to you is, "Do you know what does nurture
your
soul?" Whether the answer is "Yes" or "No", make some time to
meditate on it. Let clarity emerge. Journalling is another way
to explore the "whisperings". Choose a soul-nurturing activity
NOW that you can enjoy, whether related to future employment or
not.
I recently bought "
Barbara Sher's Idea Book: How to Discover WhatBarbara says people so often think that what they want is
impossible so they never seriously consider it. They make
assumptions based on conventional wisdom that stops their dream
"before they even leave the starting gate." Barbara challenges
all those assumptions! Plus she provides stories of people who
found a way to make their dream life happen.
Another favorite book of mine that I think you'll find
useful,
is "
In my "Starting Life Over" program, I suggest a website to
help
people avoid the pitfall of quitting a job prematurely and then
being financially strapped. Check out

And if you are "remodeling" your life do consider using my
7-week

As a Personal Life Coach, I love helping clients like Sandy.
If
you are hearing "whisperings" about a more soul-satisfying life,
request a complimentary 40-minute coaching session.
I recently discovered a "radio show" website:

self-
empowerment? When your question is answered in this column,
you'll
receive a complimentary 40-minute coaching session by phone or

Introducing Christine Northmore, Member
Profile:
Interests include stamping and teaching card
classes, gardening,
decorating, reading, sewing, baking, my family, crafting,
writing.
Motivated by the working poor and those living
in poverty; social
programs that don't meet the needs of the population; high costs
of
living; injustice; inequality; concern for a greener and
healthier
lifestyle; inadequacy of mental health resources; break down of
the
nuclear family.
Passionate about my children and grandchildren;
a sustainable home
- community - planet; lack of a judicial system and frustrated
about the legal system (note: they do not seem to be one and the
same anymore); basic human rights; fair trade and supporting
local
producers; writing and teaching the stamping classes; equality
and
fairness for all.
I have been a nurse, social worker, stay at home mother. I've
known
the sting of divorce and the hardships of poverty. I have gone
through 4 years for PTSD and have gotten my life back, I am
facing
knee replacement surgery. I love tending my gardens and
decorating
my mobile home. I dream of having my own land to live on
someday
but will continue to enjoy and beautify the large yard I pay a
fee
to live on.
I learned to heal from hurts of the past. I had to learn to
forgive.
I have a strong Christian faith. I am of Norwegian extraction. I
am
proud my great grandparents were immigrant homesteaders. I'm
blessed
to be Canadian.
I have subscribed to the IMP from a long time ago and continue
to be
inspired and refreshed by Bev's stories and check out most of
the
links she provides. I believe in an attitude of gratitude, I
still
miss my parents since their passing and think of them every day;
it's hard to be an orphan.
I love relaxed country cottage decor. The colour green surrounds
me
and reminds me of renewal and growth in a healthy way. I am very
involved with CHADD Canada (an organization for those with or
living
with someone with ADHD). I have allowed my name to stand (of
course
there was no opposition - as in "please don't pick me, oh good
she
volunteered so I don't have to worry about it") for program
director
for our community league and am full of ideas - some will work,
some
will need to be a lesson in how to do things better.
I'm a cat person. Peace and cheers,Christine

4. Inspirational Message to Ponder
The Imp encourages you to write the quote on a card, read it

"We shall not cease from exploration
And the end of all our exploring
Will be to arrive where we started
And know the place for the first time." T.S. Eliot
